Thermal paste ingredients:

General thermal paste is composed of silicone oil and magnesium, while Division I developed thermal paste with silicone oil and alumina.

The role of thermal paste:

The role of thermal paste is - as the heat source and heat sink intermediate heat conduction medium, for example the CPU, the CPU and the heatsink when two dissimilar materials in contact with the base, although the process will go through the polished surface, through still under the microscope see uneven surface, even pressure is bigger, the middle will still exist many gaps, and these gaps will be filled with a lot of air, it will reduce the thermal effects, the role of thermal paste is used to fill these small gaps, so the heat source can be more rapidly transmitted to the heat sink.





 

How much thermal grease have to use?

Well controlling the power of squeezing grease is the most fundamental step. We suggest to observe the area of circle of coating before to squeeze grease.

According to the formula of thermal conduction, Q=KA x T/L. It can get the best effect of thermal conduction by making the widest coating area A and the thinnest thermal grease.

  • Q= means the thermal flow of whole system. (W)
  • T= means the temperature division from up and down site of single material.
  • K= means the thermal conduction coefficient. (W/Mk)         
  • L= means the thickness of thermal grease
  • A= means the area of coating. (m2)
  1. Cleaning the surface of coating area by dry cloth. It can avoid to influence the thermal effect from dust and dirt.
  2. The thermal grease have to be squeezed on the center of surface. Don’t squeeze from right to left, it is because that the pressure from top would push the thermal sinking grease out of the bound, and influence the capacitance.
  3. Put the heat sinking on. Using the ductility of thermal grease to fill the small space to be a circle area. Remember not to use small spatula or fingerstall to make it flat. Because that small spatula and fingerstall would not avoid to let air in and decrease the thermal effect.
  4. It have to observe the coating circle area before using the thermal grease. Then let the diameter of coating circle area
  5.  close to the length of surface. Calculating the quantity of thermal grease by sheet one as below.
  6. If squeezing too much grease, cleaning it by dry cloth.
